Chennai Super Kings – Schedule and Team Members for IPL 2021

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), a cricket team based in Chennai in India, has been playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the first edition of the tournament in 2008. It is one of the eight teams to compete in the 2021 Indian Premier League. The Super Kings have previously lifted the IPL title thrice (in 2010, 2011 and 2018).

Important Highlights for CSK in Cricket 2021 IPL

  • The 2nd phase of IPL 2021 will be played in UAE from September 19 to October 15.
  • Chennai Super Kings will be facing Mumbai Indians in the opening match of the 2nd phase of IPL 2021.
  • Both CSK and MI have ferried their players to UAE

The yellow brigade was the second franchisee to reach the Gulf country after the arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. MS Dhoni-led side landed in the UAE on August 13 and straightaway went into six-day mandatory quarantine before commencing their practice sessions.

The Yellow Army will be boosted with the presence of Moeen Ali and Sam Curran. The duo was set to miss the 2nd phase of the season due to the Bangladesh series.However, the series has been pushed to 2023 and both the all-rounders will be there in UAE for IPL. Josh Hazlewood is also reportedly available for the season and will look to make the most out of the tournament ahead of T20 World Cup 2021.

Talking of CSK’s campaign in the first half of IPL 2021, the MS Dhoni-led side bounced back strongly and sits at the 2nd spot with 5 wins from 7 matches. The Yellow Army had kicked off the campaign with a defeat against Delhi Capitals before going on a five-match winning run. They lost their 7th fixture of the season to Mumbai Indians.

Notably, Chennai Super Kings were among the first teams to begin training in the UAE for the remainder of IPL 2021. MS Dhobi led a group of Indian players to Dubai where the team has been training. The likes of Suresh Rain, Robin Uthappa, Karn Sharma and Deepak Chahar are part of the training group.

CSK are the only franchise which have a full squad in hand for the second phase of the IPL.
